The ONE most incredible thing to do in Jaipur, India

The first thing that comes to mind when we talk about Jaipur is the Pink color. It’s understandable as it is called the Pink city. And, other things that come to mind are elephants, camels, royal lifestyle, and heritage. But never does it ever come to mind the one most incredible thing to do in that city. Neither will you find it in any other blog as a part of things to do in Jaipur list.

But worry not. What you won’t find there you will find here.

So what is it one most incredible thing to do in Jaipur?

Watching the sunrise from Nahargarh!

Yes, I kid you not. If you are in Jaipur and are going to be there for a couple of days, then watching the sunrise from Nahargarh has to be on your list of things to do in Jaipur and marked as THE THING TO DO IN JAIPUR. It just has to.

Once you are at the top there, looking at the sunrise, you will know why I am stressing on it so much.

But, just in case, let’s say you are not a morning person, I think you can substitute the sunrise with the sunset. It’s not the same feeling but that is definitely worth it too. You can sit at Padao, a rooftop restaurant at Nahargarh fort, order food, and sit back and relax as the sun takes a dive into the horizon.

You can see as the sky changes color from blue to orange to pink and even purple.

How to get to Nahargarh?

  • Bus – that will drop you near Nahargarh, but won’t take you all the way up.
  • Auto – that will take you all the way up
  • Cab – that will also take you all the way up
  • Self Drive vehicles
  • 2 wheeler taxis – drop you all the way up

Based on your budget, you can decide how would you like to get to Nahargarh. But for the last part, there is a ‘Y’ divide at the road, the road on the right takes you to the fort, while the one on the left takes you to the stepwell.

For the sunrise, you have to take the road on the left, while to view the sunset, you have to take the road on the right.

An alternate route to Nahargarh – In the main city market, there is an area called Choti Chaupad, from where you can take the shorter, zig-zag route to Nahargarh. You can even walk there from this route. It’s a little steep, but it’s not tough. You can easily get up there. Just be sure to calculate the time accordingly as you wouldn’t want t miss the one most incredible thing to do in Jaipur because you couldn’t reach there on time.

Also, one thing to keep in mind

Try not to go to Nahargarh at the weekend, as it can be very crowded. Many locals and college/school kids tend to hang out there which might make you feel uncomfortable. Considering you like to enjoy such things in peace and quiet.

Pick a weekday anywhere between Monday to Friday for sunrise.

And anywhere between Monday to Thursday for sunsets.

But that’s just my suggestion.
