There are two kinds of people in this world, (1) who think, research and then execute, and (2) who just go for it. If you are reading this, you obviously belong to the first category. And, just so you know, I belong to the first category too. So here’s a list of top travel bloggers who can help you widen your horizon about the possibilities of travel blogging.
I have categorized travel bloggers and vloggers into three categories – Website bloggers, Instagram Bloggers, and Youtube Bloggers. In my observation, these are the three places with the most possibilities for the bloggers. These platforms have also seen a significant rise in the number of people that engage with it, statistically speaking.
Thanks to Instagram and Youtube, travel blogging might seem challenging but it really is not. The average life span of a travel blog is 5 years. So travel bloggers keep coming and going, especially full-time travelers. Making space for new bloggers with a fresh-er (debatable) perspective.
1) Website Bloggers
Websites are an all-time go to. No matter what our query or doubt is, we tend to instinctively google it. So no, websites never go out of style. Try not to leave this stone unturned.
Let’s take a look at some of the most successful and profitable website blogs in 2019.
Cookiesound is Travelling
Nisa Maier and Ulli Maier own the blog and share their travel stories from around the world. Their blog has been active since 2007 and so I think I won’t be overstepping if I said that these guys have definitely figured out how to be on the move long-term.
Rice / Potato
Etty and Chris as travel bloggers have some really interesting recommendations about places that one can visit in Bangkok and otherwise. Their blog mostly includes hotel reviews and destination guides which you can refer to during the research phase.
Raah-hi
The only blog fully dedicated to Backpacking. It welcomes guest posts from fellow backpackers, organizes meetups and answers queries related to backpack traveling. The only platform that is not just digital but promotes face to face interactions and gatherings as well.
12 Hrs
Talk about a fresh perspective. The same old itinerary that every blog and travel website offers is very successfully cut down to 12 hrs schedule. This blog covers the best fashion, food, design, and coffee that a place has to offer.
Travel Episodes
Travel Episodes is one website that shares very unique stories from their travels. What I personally like about their stories is that every once in a while they manage to keep me mesmerized by their travel experiences.
Jungles in Paris
If you are interested to know about the culture and people of a place more than the tourist destinations, Jungles in Paris can help you with that. They cover stories about the locals and individuals that I find very unusual for a travel blogging website.
Petite Passport
If cafes and restaurants are your motivation to travel, then petite can be your guide. It coves an array of nice (interior) places to visit in a city. The food although is not the priority for the listing rather an added luxury.
The shopkeepers
For a lot of people, shopping is an inseparable part of traveling. In Paula’s words, ” I believe that independent shops are an integral part of our lives, whether local or faraway, they add vibrancy and community.” And so the website was born.
The Voyageur
Travel Bloggers come in all shapes and sizes. If you like a wholesome experience including food, art, architecture, ready itineraries and suggestions about the hotel and homestays, the voyageur is the way to go.
Nomadic Matt
If you plan to go on a backpacking trip, Matt can help you prepare and understand the challenges that you might face ahead. But it doesn’t just end there, there is more to traveling than being a tourist and you can explore the possibilities with Nomadic Matt.
Dan Flying Solo
Dan has been on the road for over 1000 days. As a travel blogger, he offers his readers some unique travel stories and suggestions about places to visit while in a particular city, state or country.

Take a dive into the world of Mel who’s been traveling for a long time. She’s got great suggestions and pointers that can help you get started on your travel journey.

2) Instagram Bloggers
If you want to be a blogger in 2019 and make money while doing it, you NEED an Instagram account. Considering the photo taking and video recording ability of today’s mobile phones, there is no point making an excuse. Whether you know how to take a picture or not, your camera definitely does.
Also, when it comes to social media, blogging and vlogging are overlapping concepts. It’s best to keep a balance between all kinds of media – written, pictures, videos, and TV and not fall into categorization trap.

3) Youtube Vloggers
Youtube is a very successful platform for vlogging. Whether you are a professional photographer who loves to travel the world with your gear, or you prefer mounting your mobile phone on a selfie stick instead, Youtube welcomes you with open arms.
Although having a mesmerizing cinematic video can be an extra, it should not stop you from starting. Take a look at the following Youtubers and you’ll know what I mean.
Observation
There are two things that make a blog/ blogger/ profile stand out,
- The subject of discussion – Food, Travel, People, Culture, etc.
- Bloggers personality
The two common things about all the above blogs/ bloggers/ profiles are
- They are all documenting their travels
- They are all consistently doing what they do best
